The team behind successful motorsport photo agency SpaceSuit Media have released their in-agency image management system for you to use – it’s called Duwio. …‘In 2016, Spacesuit had been at work for two years in Formula E and other top-tier sports, and we’d reached the limits of existing platforms – that’s when we built our own.‘
Currently released under Beta, Duwio is a cloud-based subscription platform that makes it easier to store, search and share images and video files of any size.
After a Duwio demo here’s a few standout system features PAN took away:
• Solves common pain points in Microsoft SharePoint, Google Drive, PhotoShelter, Dropbox, Pixieset and others.
• Cuts costs for customers by reducing storage space by up to 90% and speeding sorting and sharing by up to 8x.
• Designed for professional photographers and film-makers, and any business that needs to easily store, search and share imagery.
• Based on technology from Spacesuit Media in use continuously since 2016, supporting 1200+ users and 600,000 high-resolution images.
The Boss at Duwio, Ross Ringham told PAN: “Duwio is file first, not folder first. With Duwio, even if the same image is shared into a thousand folders, a workspace subscriber only ever pays to store a single version of image. This approach has reduced Spacesuit Media’s storage space requirements by around 90% compared to alternative platforms.”
The Duwio approach also slashes the likelihood of files being deleted accidentally, for example during an enthusiastic clean-up of archival folders.
“No one ever wants to delete old folders because they don’t know if those images are backed up somewhere else,” says Ross. However, with Duwio, even if a user deletes every single folder, all their images remain safe and sound in their centralised archive.”
And the pricing? – Professionals or businesses interested in joining the Duwio beta programme can register their interest and sign up for updates at the website. “Beta customers will help us with feature development as we head towards the fully live platform,” says Ringham. “We think there’s a sizeable market to address, given Dropbox’s 700m registered users, Pixiset’s million and PhotoShelter’s 700,000 are all presented with folder-first architecture.”
“Pricing has not yet been announced but affordability is a priority” Ross told PAN: “We want even the smallest startups to easily afford Duwio.”
