Garden and plant stock photo library GAP Gardens (‘GAP Photos’ as many of you will know it) has taken a majority transfer of images from the Garden World Images (GWI) collection which has ceased trading.
Garden World Images, established as The “Harry Smith Collection” in the 1970’s, has long been regarded as a cornerstone of horticultural photography. Its archive includes over 100,000 images.
• Garden World Images Ltd ceased trading on 31st July 2025 – View the holding note on their site re the closure.
• Clients of both agencies can expect uninterrupted service, with GWI’s content already being integrated into the GAP Gardens website.
• Contributors from GWI have been welcomed to GAP Gardens, providing global licensing, traditional personalised support & competitive royalties. The team at GAP Gardens expect to see an increasing number of images from this group of specialist photographers in due course.
GAP say: ‘The transfer marks a significant milestone in the history of GAP Gardens, bringing together two well-respected and specialist gardening & plant photo libraries, creating an unmatched photographic resource for brands, publishers, and gardening businesses worldwide.’
