The poster above advertises a 1970’s BBC series called Exploring Photography which was written and narrated by PPHP featured press photographer Bryn Campbell – One programme featured photographer Susie Fitzhugh who’s first exhibition in London is now open to view.
• Susie Fitzhugh (b.1942) is a self-taught documentary photographer of education, social issues, children and families. Over the course of her career, she worked with foundations and nonprofits concerned with education, healthcare, the effects of poverty, and of society in general. Her later work focuses on education in Seattle’s public schools and on the natural world around her present home on Vashon Island, Washington. Read more at the APAG.
I let Bryn know about the show after the organiser Tom Browne invited us both to the preview on 7th June after reading the feature I ran about Bryn on my Press Photo History Project (PPHP) – Bryn who is not able to make the show sent this in reply:
I am delighted that Susie Fitzhugh is to have a show of her work in London. I would love to see it but my health is too poor for me to travel. I hope that a selection of her photographs will appear somewhere on the internet.
Well done Tom Browne!
