The inaugural World Sports Photography Awards, recognising the best photographs that capture the drama, passion, endeavour and athleticism of sport have launched.
The awards have been set up by sports branding & marketing agency TwelfthMan and awards experts Iconify, the Awards are intended for professional, semi-professional sport photographers and specialist sports photographic agencies. Enter here.
The judging panel will be chaired by photographer Peter Robinson, the man behind some of the most iconic sports and particularly football pictures ever taken. Peter started his photography journey shooting for Sports Illustrated in New York in the early 70’s.
Speaking of the launch TwelfthMan Commercial Director Alan Whiter said, “Sport is global and photography a global language. There are international photography awards for wildlife, travel, portrait and landscape photography but no meaningful prizes for sporting images, which are used by virtually every news media outlet in the world on a daily basis. The World Sports Photography Awards unlocks the amazing power of sports imagery through the story-telling power of competition.”
