Photographer David Hogan is named ‘Legend of the Year’ at first So.Co Music Photographer of the Year Awards

Congrats to PAN reader entertainment photographer Dave Hogan who was named Legend of the Year this week at the inaugural So.Co Music Photographer of the Year Awards – ‘recognising his incredible, ongoing legacy as one of the music industry’s most distinguished and cherished photographers’.

• Created by music storytelling platform So.Co, the Music Photographer of the Year Awards champions the unsung heroes behind the lens.

David Hogan or ‘Hogie’ as he’s affectionately known amongst his peers, is responsible for immortalising many of the most defining, iconic and talked about moments in musical history – from the original 1985 Live Aid to the 46664 concerts around the world in honour of Nelson Mandela.
Over forty years’ experience in the business has ensured him the utmost respect from media and celebrities alike, working closely with music icons including Madonna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and David Bowie, as well as being the official photographer for the biggest nights in the musical calendar such as The BRITs and The Grammy Awards.

David Hogan says: “It is such a huge honour to be the first recipient of the So.co Legend award and to be recognised by my fellow peers. I’ve been doing this job since 1980, and every day I am still so proud and grateful to have the opportunity to photograph the brightest and boldest names in music and entertainment.”

So.Co CEO Vince Bannon adds: “When creating the So.Co Photographer of the Year Awards, choosing Dave as the inaugural legend was a no-brainer given his central role in documenting and making the stories of the music industry for so many years. We are honoured that he has chosen to accept.”

David is also the official photographer for The Rolling Stones’ tours and has travelled across all corners of the globe with the band. Mick Jagger comments: “Dave Hogan has been shooting the Stones Live on tour for more than three decades. From our unforgettable gig in Cuba, headlining Glastonbury in 2013, to most recently at our London Hyde Park shows, his images have captured these incredible moments we have shared with our fans. I’d like to congratulate him on winning this award.”

At the event the Music Photographer of the Year award went to Neil Lupin and Image of the Year to Belinda Enthoven.
