Reuters launches new AI server – handles highly complex editorial photo research tasks

Customers taking the Reuters news agency photo feeds can now benefit from the agency’s newly launched  Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, a new AI-native integration designed to power agentic workflows.

Unlike traditional APIs, the Reuters MCP server is built to enable AI agents to search, retrieve and download the Reuters content customers subscribe to, allowing them to programmatically access and integrate our content within their existing platforms.

This means Reuters customers can now deploy AI agents to handle highly complex editorial and research tasks like:
• Automated multimedia assembly: AI agents can automatically surface and insert highly relevant Reuters visual assets directly into drafts as journalists write, eliminating manual media searching and freeing up journalists’ time to spend on reporting and newsgathering.
• Richer storytelling: AI agents can efficiently repackage stories into various formats, allowing Reuters News Agency customers to do more with less.
• Smart content curation: AI agents can surface Reuters content for customers’ newsrooms to refine for their target audiences.
