It’s a big start to 2019 for new photo agency owners Pelle T Nilsson and Mattias Hellström as they head fully into the Swedish editorial photo market with the launch of their new photo agency SPA – Swedish Press Agency.  The agency will be focusing on Swedish royals, politics, entertainment and sports with an initial concentration on royals and politics growing to more editorial coverage to meet demand.

SPA Co-founder Mattias, (a daily PAN reader…) told PhotoArchiveNews.com this morning: “During the last few years smaller agencies as AOP and IBL has been acquired by TT leading to an opportunity for us to establish a new photo dedicated agency. Both Pelle and I have previously been working for photo agencies AOP, IBL and Stella Pictures so we have plenty of experience to meet the standards of the most demanding media houses from gossip to news.  As a new image provider we aim to combine classic agency photo to partners internationally but also open up for assignments.”
…and the response to SPA so far? “
It has been an overwhelming start and the response, both nationally and internationally, has been positive. It seams that media houses and publishers want to have multiple alternatives when choosing photos and they are welcoming SPA as that alternative.”
