Author looking for pictures of Stephen H Smith in Calcutta, India. Originally by him to the Keystone Press Agency on 3rd June 1938.
This surely has to be one of the most peculiar queries ever posted. No?
I am researching the life and work of a rocket mail experimenter Stephen H Smith based in Calcutta India. Between 1934 and 1944 he conducted over 200 rocketmail experiments in and around Calcutta. Whilst searching the archives of one of his correspondents in Switzerland, I came across a letter Stephen Smith had written on 3 June 1938. A jpg attached. In the PS written along the margin he says
“PS I have a letter from the Keystone Press Agency Ltd of London and New York, asking me for photographs and brief details of my experiments. I have sent 10 photographs and details.”
I am looking for those 10 pictures and description. This is a long shot – any leads would be most welcome. He was born in 1891 and died in1951. I have been on his trail for several years – I wrote about him in 2014 here https://astrotalkuk.org/indias-forgotten-rocketeer-2/
