Last chance to enter: FC Barcelona PHOTO AWARDS – closes 28th Feb

We don’t cover too many photo awards on PhotoArchiveNews.com but this one caught our eye recently, a famous football club doing something in the ‘Arts’ …so we had a look  and spotted PAN reader and photo industry veteran Mr Stephen Mayes is on the judging board, so we contacted him for more info with a view to giving the Award some PAN time:   “Hi Will – This is a remarkable initiative by FCB and I’m a committed supporter.  I met the vice chair of the club when he was in NY last month to promote the photo award and I was bowled over by the sincerity of their ambition.”

Last call for entries at the FCBARCELONA PHOTO AWARDS  this week 28th Feb. in brief:
•The single picture that shows the positive values of sport, giving priority to non-professional sport.
• Requirements: Photographers proving experience in media channels, photography agencies or within the art world.
• Awards  1 first prize of €40,000  29 finalists of €1,000

The FCBARCELONA PHOTO AWARDS theme is the positive values of sport. The Prizes are aimed at artists who use photography as a creative vehicle, as well as professional photographers and photojournalists who see sports as a way of artistic expression.

Priority will be given to the photographs and photographic project ideas which will illustrate the positive intrinsic values of sports for the society, shown through non-professional sports practiced anywhere in the world, rather than photography of professional sports. The Awards are not about sports performance photography, but about the positive values related to the practice of sports. This allows the participation of not only sports photographers, but of all professional photographers, photojournalists and artists, who may demonstrate high quality photographic Works that depict these values.
