The judging process for the UK Picture Editors Guild Awards in association with Shutterstock has finished. Chair of the Judges Sophie Batterbury, Picture Editor of the Independent Newspaper said : “The overall calibre of entries was exceedingly high this year, in several categories it was very difficult to choose a winning entry.”

Over 380 photographers entered, and fifty per cent of entries received in the last few hours of the entry period. More than 2000 photographs were considered by the judges, established figures in press photography joined Keren Sachs of Shutterstock and Ray Wells of the Sunday Times to sift through the entry.

The winners will be announced at the UK Picture Editors Guild Awards that will be held on February 25th at a black tie event hosted by journalist and broadcaster Kate Silverton at the headquarters of the Honourable Artillery Company in city road London. The shortlisted photographers in each category are shown below in alphabetical order:
