Photo library giant United Archives in Germany has started scanning their recently acquired photo collection – the archive of celebrity photographer Hartwig “Valdi” Valdmanis.
UA told PAN: ‘Over the next 12 months the 70,000 images from the archive will be scanned to create a digital legacy for Valdi.’
Hartwig Valdmanis began taking photographs at the age of 8. He worked for a while at the Hamburger Morgenpost, as a police reporter, and then as a sports editor and at the Bild newspaper. He worked freelance for many years controlling his own image licensing.
